A better time

I was exceedingly down on life in my last posting. I was really ready to give up on Senegal, and my feelings were more about me than about Senegal.

I have since perked up. A trip to Gambia will always make one feel more happy about one's own life.

We have had no electricity or internet for two days. But I am finding people much easier to get on with, and making new friends. I have eaten out, with people, every night this week, and lunch too.

Yesterday I went to collect my bed. I brought it back on the famous horse and cart that I like so much to travel on. The horse was so skinny that we stopped to buy it a bag of hay. The driver, Abdou, installed the bed at home and now I have a flat-mate, Chi, and a telephone line, and a bed, it all seems too perfect. The weather is lovely, blue skies, dry, warm, and they are filming a Wolof soap opera in my street. Suddenly, everything seems sunny.
